Holiday with bicycles
Cycling belongs next to hiking to the most beautiful species the Algarve to meet. Environmentally friendly, healthy and good for the wellbeing it is also.
The Algarve is more bicycle-friendly. More and more bike paths are created and signposted. The Algarve is however no flat bicycle land. The North is mountainous in the South, the hills draw up the coast; Touring cyclists can use the two long distance footpaths “Rota Vicentina” and “Via Algarviana”, which can be used very well even with the wheel. The cycle path “Ecovía” has been created specially for cyclists and is used also by hikers.
Mountain bikers get their money in the Algarve. Steep cliff paths down to the beach and on the other side of the Bay as back up? Some providers have specialized to offer tours guided down hill on the Felsalgarve. You can find them z. B. in Sagres and Lagos. The mountains in the North of the Algarve offer as well for a sporting cyclists. The 60 km long descent from the mountain village “Monchique” at a height of 450 metres to the sea after Lagos, over winding roads with little traffic, through a green hills, lakes and attractions is great.
